Your Quick Guide to the Neighborhoods in and Around Raleigh

Holly Springs: a Rapidly Growing, Family-focused Community

Found in the southwestern part of Wake County, the city of Holly Springs has risen from humble beginnings to become one of the fastest-growing cities in the area. In the 1800s a village grew around the town’s fresh water springs, with lumber and cotton industries following soon after. However, constant strife throughout the next century and a half in the form of the Civil and World Wars kept Holly Springs from sustaining any real growth. That’s all changed in recent years, as the small town of 900 residents in 1992 has now grown to more than 25,000 as of the 2010 census. The city is perfect for young families, having been recognized as the best place to raise kids in North Carolina by BusinessWeek in December 2012 and the #2 safest city in North Carolina this year by SafeWise.

Apex: a Friendly City with a Small-town Vibe

Drive about 20 minutes west of Downtown Raleigh and you’ll come across the suburb of Apex, a town of about 42,000 residents with a welcoming atmosphere and a charming small-town vibe. The town is named as it is the highest point in a portion of the Chatham Railroad – but don’t expect any mountains in the area! Apex is a popular destination for those who work in the Research Triangle, and for good reason: the town has twice been named as one of the best places to live in the country by CNN/Money magazine. Those who love green space will enjoy the 400 acres of park land in the area, and parents should note that local schools rate highly with students that tend to significantly outperform those in other parts of North Carolina.

Garner: an Award-winning City That Prides Itself on Affordability

Garner’s motto is “A Great Place to Be!” – a truth that is well-known by the 26,000 residents that call Garner home. In the past few years the town has won numerous awards, including being named one of ten All-America Cities in 2013 – an award that reflects just hoe engaged and inclusive local citizens are. Garner was also recently rated as the sixth most affordable community in the state of North Carolina, and as you’ll see in our property listings there are some incredible bargains to be found in this area.
