The Ultimate Spring-Cleaning Checklist

Spring has finally sprung in the Triangle! It’s time for some annual cleaning to spruce up homes inside and out. There is no better feeling than starting fresh after a long winter, and this month is the best time to start. At Raleigh Cary Realty, we have created the ultimate spring-cleaning checklist on how to make your home shine while also helping increase its value.

Here is our full spring-cleaning list for all homeowners looking to clean their home:

  1. Start by examining all cleaning supplies: brooms, mops, vacuums, dusters, cloths, sponges, etc. and clean or replace
  2. Convert old or unused t-shirts or socks into cleaning rags for the dirtiest projects
  3. Use a leaf blower to remove all leaves, grass and other residues from the porches, patio decks, driveways and walkways
  4. Replace all HVAC filters
  5. Clean areas around outdoor air conditioners including removing vegetation and dirt
  6. Wash the doormats thoroughly from top to bottom
  7. Clean windows during cloudy days to avoid streaks and dust all blinds
  8. Move furniture away from the walls to get behind them
  9. Dust all vents including the return ducts
  10. Remove all bedding then vacuum and sanitize all mattresses with a disinfectant
  11. Wash all patio furniture with soapy water then rinse and dry in the sun
  12. Wash all pet beds
  13. Clean and disinfect the inside and outside of trash cans
  14. Shampoo the carpets
  15. Pour a cup of white distilled vinegar down all kitchen and bathroom drains
  16. Dust all lampshades inside and out
  17. Clean the barbecue grill by heating it, spraying white vinegar and scrubbing it with a half-onion
  18. Declutter all bookshelves, closets, cabinets, pantries, medicine cabinets and junk drawers
  19. Use a microfiber mop to dust all baseboards
  20. Wash all bathroom rugs and mats according to the label’s instructions
