Sleepy little southern town no more! Raleigh has been growing by leaps and bounds, with no signs of slowing. Even though there are so many things to do, we wanted to share our favorites.
Here are four things to look out for in Downtown Raleigh:
- Moore Square: Moore Square has always been a cool part of downtown Raleigh, but it just went through extensive renovations and recently reopened. There are lots of shops, restaurants and museums near Moore Square, so it makes the park a great place to take a break from exploring the city. Its main claim to fame, a giant metal acorn sculpture also does double duty at the city’s New Year’s celebrations.
- Dining scene: Raleigh has some great restaurants and bars. There are so many options to try out that you’ll never get tired. Not sure where to start, check out a walking food tour. Not only will you get to check out a few up-and-coming establishments, but the guides usually have lots more information to share about Raleigh’s history and dining options.
- Performing arts: We hear a lot about the DPAC, but Raleigh’s downtown has an amazing facility for performing arts. The Duke Energy Center has four different venues on its campus to host a variety of performing arts. Whether it be ballet, Broadway, orchestra, concerts, or opera, there’s always something good to see downtown.
- Festivals: Being in the South, we’re pretty friendly people in Raleigh. That’s why there’s always some sort of festival or celebration happening somewhere in downtown Raleigh. It’s a great way to experience the people and businesses in the area.
Downtown Raleigh has so much to offer all year long. There’s always something new to check out.
