We’ve had the privilege of helping so many families relocate to the Raleigh area! With so many new residents, we thought we’d take a minute to share some of our favorite day trips. Living in Raleigh is unique in that we’re close to so much – mountains, history, beach, nature. It’s all no more than a quick drive away!
4 of our favorite day trips from the Raleigh area:
- Winston-Salem: We’re just a short drive away from another era. Old Salem is a great way to experience early North Carolina and see what it was like to live in a simpler time. Be sure to try some Moravian cookies for a special treat!
- Tubing the Cape Fear River: When you want a relaxing day, but you still want to fill your Instagram, tubing is the answer! Head to Lillington for a chance to spend the day floating down the Cape Fear River.
- NC Zoo: We’ve seen a lot of zoos in our day, but the NC Zoo in Asheboro is something special. The park prides itself on natural habitats, so you can see how the animals would live out in the wild. There are also lots of activities for families to do. Splashing around in the stream at the KidZone is the perfect way to cool off after a busy day!
- Beach trip: Our day trip list wouldn’t be complete without the beach. Pretty much anywhere in Raleigh is a couple of hours from a beach. Even though they’re all close to each other, each beach community has a different vibe to it. Eventually, everyone finds ‘their’ beach, but until then, have fun checking them all out!
